What is verification of my ID?

Just like banks and other financial institutions, TransferWise follows anti-money laundering guidelines and regulations. At some point in your time with us we may need to ask for ID or address proof in order to process your payments. Should we need this, we will notify you during the payment process.

In order to verify your ID, we need a full, readable and clear copy or high quality photo of your photo ID document clearly showing your details (name, date of birth etc.) and the expiry date (if this is on the rear of the document, we require a copy of both sides). Valid ID documents can be:

  • Passport (photo page only)
  • National ID card
  • Photo driver’s licence

  • You can upload the document to our secure server here, or you can attach it to an email and send it to us directly at id@transferwise.com

  • Please include your name on the subject line and contact us from your TransferWise registered e-mail address.

  • You need to have a TransferWise account with a profile in order to complete the verification.
