UX Researcher – London

TransferWise is looking for a UX researcher

You’ll work across the company to help teams do great research work and understand customers better. One day you might work with one of our regional teams on how best to survey our customers in Brazil. The next, you might organize user testing for a new feature. You’ll work on a wide range of projects and studies, each with a different brief that requires different skills.

You’ll play a large part in deciding how research is incorporated into our way of working, and how we can approach different products and markets so that our customers and potential customers will understand us better.

You’ll need strong methodological knowledge and experience, great people-reading and analytic skills, and a passion for sniffing out what is most important. No one is going to tell you how to do things, so you’ll need to think big, challenge assumptions, and assess the impact of your work independently. You’ll also need to know how to scale your research work, rather than focus only on one project at a time.

Your experience and portfolio should show us your talent for using different methods, developing solid research plans, showing the impact of your findings, and being able to educate others about research. You’ll be working closely with our lead UX researcher as well as a variety of product teams.

  • It’s not enough for you to do great research projects. It has to be for a great cause. Something that really helps people and ensures our products really understand their needs.
  • You live for solving problems.
  • You know how to talk people through your ideas so they understand not only the ‘what’ but the ‘why.’
  • You thrive more on independence than structure. But you’re great at taking feedback.
  • You have high standards and want to get everything right, while understanding there are no absolutes in research. You’re also okay with making a plan around ambiguous findings, can figure out what to do next with it, and how to best communicate it.


Research at TransferWise

People rely on TransferWise to send their hard-earned money abroad, so they need to trust us. Understand us. And hopefully like us, too. At the same time, we need to show them how the international banking system rips them off, and how we’re changing that. Good research is crucial for all of those things. We get to communicate with our customers on an intimate level, so it’s crucial that we understand them.

This position will sit within the Design team. Research here works side-by-side with user-centered designers, smart and caring developers, product managers, copywriters, and analysts to understand problems, explore ideas, and put something great in front of our customers.

No one will tell you what to do. We’ll expect you to make our customers’ lives and our lives easier, by contributing as you see fit. You’ll be your own boss, but you’ll get tons of support from your colleagues, and especially your lead. Not to mention tons of feedback.
