We’re making a positive, irreversible change in the world of finance. Together.

Head of Analytics – London

At TransferWise, we’ve got a clear mission — money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives.

We’ve made a good start. Today, more than 5 million people get a better deal whenever they send, spend, and receive money abroad. And our Analysts continue to make this possible as we scale, and our costs move closer to zero.

What you’ll be doing

Unlike other roles at TransferWise, you won’t be embedded in a product team. Instead, you’ll be working with the nearly 40 Analysts who are, helping them understand how to answer customers’ questions, help them when they get stuck, and guide them through solving their own problems. You’ll get to the heart of all those things — and build solutions that are scalable as we grow.

You’ll support and develop the guild’s existing Lead Analysts, and work with product managers, engineers, designers, and everyone else needed to get it done.

Whilst you’ll be focusing on empowering Analysts at TransferWise, you’ll also be leading the overall Data and Analytics strategy. So you’ll be facilitating cross-team projects, shape our tooling and platform discussions, create our growth plan, and guide us on what we need to do to reach Mission Zero.

Your day-to-day

  • Build a vision for Data and Analytics — and be a fundamental part of quarterly planning sessions; aligning subteams and skillsets across the guild.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to understand the problems customers face in different regions, times of the year, and parts of our product.
  • Mentor the Analyst Leads and scale the guild. Analytics is scaling at an amazing speed, so you’ll need to support, inspire, and guide.
  • Turn solid insights into problems-to-be-solved, and be the voice of Analytics for TransferWise.

The experience you’ll need

  • Data and analytics are your passion. You aim to transform the way organisations and people work with it and how analysts develop in the process.
  • You have led and scaled a team of Analysts.
  • You know your way around the infrastructure of analytics and have worked with cloud warehouses (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift), have knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Looker, Periscope, or Metabase) and/or visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI or Tableau).
  • You’re a self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously and with teams located across our offices. You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty, prioritise your focus based on impact, and able to own a project from start to finish.
  • You can take complex, fuzzy problems and boil them down into concise and actionable insights
  • You are willing to travel and work with Wisers in our offices around the globe.

And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d also love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.

If you feel like you’ve got the skills, experience, and the desire to create a meaningful impact in the lives of millions, we’d love to hear from you.

Some important stuff we would like you to know

To meet our regulatory obligations as a licensed financial services company, TransferWise needs to take background checks on all new hires, which may include Criminal and Credit checks. Please discuss with the Recruiter if you have any concerns regarding this process.

At TransferWise we believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Therefore, we want to make sure that our recruitment process is accessible to everyone. So if you need any reasonable adjustments – at any point in the process – we’ll do our best to help. Just let us know what you need on your application form or reply with your request to the email we send you after you have applied. You might need a reasonable adjustment if you’ve got a disability. Or maybe you live overseas, and you’d prefer to meet us over Skype.

Please don’t send anything to the adjustments address if you’re a recruiter, or if you’re making a speculative application. We do work with recruiters from time to time – but only through LinkedIn. And we only accept job applications when a position is actually open. So you’re better off just checking the recruitment pages regularly.
