Product Analyst - AML – Tallinn

Since 2011, we’ve had a clear mission: money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives, we’re just at the beginning of our story and we’re growing at an incredible pace.

To empower TransferWise and move us closer to achieving that mission, we are looking for a talented Product Analyst to join our growing AML Team in Tallinn.

You’ll report to the AML Product Manager and join a small, talented team of engineers and data scientists. They have done an amazing job to build our crime fighting technology within the  AML team, but there is a significant amount of uncharted territory. So while this an opportunity to impact the direction of the team, the Product Analyst will be very hands-on and play a key role in building new capabilities to detect and reduce financial crime risks in our products.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build an understanding of TransferWise AML/CTF control effectiveness - what controls we have in place for all regions we operate in, types of customers, types of products we offer, etc.
  • Build systems to identify suspicious activity. You work hands-on with data, machine learning, with our AML investigators and other AML analysts to build systems that monitor and alert suspicious activity to our AML investigators. You will be constantly looking out for new types of crime and trying to make the monitoring systems more accurate. Supporting it with keeping up to date with recent trends in financial crime.
  • Quantify risks to help the team prioritise the product roadmap and set ambitious but achievable KPIs
  • You’ll work side-by-side with product, engineering and AML investigations to create a strong customer feedback loop and ensure that your analysis and insights translate into action and a better experience for our customers
  • Be the go-to person for business data and regularly present updates to the team on our growth and your new insights

Experience & skills that you’ll need

  • You have experience with SQL and either Python or R
  • You have previously worked in a product or engineering environment and are able to give examples of how you’ve analysed customer data to inform successful product changes (using SQL, Excel, Python, R, Looker, etc. to do this)
  • You're a strong communicator and able to share and summarise complex data in a way that makes people say ‘I got it!’
  • You’re customer focused at heart and this drives your decisions
  • You’re happy working autonomously and use analytical thinking to solve complex problems
  • You know the best tools for the job, you’re keen to learn new ones, and are agnostic towards whatever you think we can use to bring the most value

Awesome, but not necessary

  • Interest or previous experience in machine learning and data science
  • Interest or previous experience in risk/financial crime prevention/compliance operations

How this will actually happen

How a Product Analyst in actually creates impact is well.. completely up to you.

At TransferWise, we believe in trust and autonomy. As Product Analyst, you’ll be trusted to own your team's domain and are proactively identifying problems and opportunities to create value for our customers. So while we can outline what we want to achieve, and what skills we think we’ll need to get there, we know this can change and that the narrative is up to you. Also, we know that someone doesn’t have to be the perfect fit to truly make a difference.

If you feel like you’ve got the skills & experience, the need to grow, and most importantly, the desire to create a meaningful impact in the lives of millions, we’d love to hear from you.

Some important stuff we would like you to know
