Product Analyst - Treasury – Tallinn

Today, customers have paid over £1 billion into their borderless accounts and are saving themselves £60 million every month in bank fees. Yet we’re moving less than 1% of the world’s money. There’s still heaps to do and we can’t do it alone.

So, what's the job?

We’re on the hunt for a product-minded analyst to join our Treasury team in Tallinn. You'll be part of the team that runs the engine of the company - making sure money moves quickly to wherever our customers need it, and managing the risk of currency rate fluctuations - allowing us to offer customers fast transfers and the real mid-market rate.

You’ll be focussed on foreign-exchange exposure - understanding what drives it, and implementing strategies to minimise cost - making our product cheaper! We’re not just looking for a contributor - we’ll need you to own this whole topic, and make sure the wider team is executing on the the right projects. Therefore this role would suit someone who wants to have hands-on impact as well as strategise, and might eventually want to move into a Product role.

Our team is currently 22 people strong and contains a mix of roles (Operational, Product, Analytics, Engineering, and Banking) - whatever it takes to get the job done.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the problem of foreign-exchange rate fluctuations: understand our customers’ behaviour, figure out how to minimise costs, and work with our diverse team to get those ideas up-and-running
  • Focus particularly on hedging: model the impact of various strategies, and pick the best to implement
  • Develop and run our vital analytical reporting on Exposure and Risk
  • Drive impact by giving the rest of the team ownership - ensure Operations and Banking are focussing on the right projects, and provide them with the tools they need
  • Educate other teams around TransferWise in how to manage FX exposure
  • Work with developers to ensure our systems and calculations are robust

Our team is spread across 3 offices, so do expect a lot of video-calls and some travel. Your work will be instrumental in improving our product, making an impact on our customers' lives, and moving us closer to our mission.

A bit about you:

  • Rock-solid data skills - you know how to work with large datasets and build complex models, and you’re handy with SQL
  • Excellent communicator - you can summarise the complex, and present data visually in a way that makes people say “got it!”
  • Ownership - you see your ideas all the way through to customer impact
  • Collaborative - you work well in a team environment, and know how to have an impact through others
  • You’re comfortable making considered but firm decisions when there’s no right answer, and living with the impact of these decisions

Nice to haves:

  • Experience or a keen interest in FX markets - perhaps you’ve traded privately, or written strategies in MT4 or similar
  • A wider analytical toolbox, especially experience with Python, Looker, or R
  • Machine learning, scenario modelling or other statistical modelling experience
  • Experience of software development or product management
