Junior Controller – Tallinn

TransferWise is on a mission to create a world of Money Without Borders but we can’t do it alone! Due to continued and rapid growth (we’re one of the fastest growing companies in Europe) we’re now looking for a strong specialist in financial controls and management reporting to join the Finance team in our Tallinn office.

You will be working closely with the chief accountant and financial controlling team, assisting with the monthly financial closing process.

Your mission:

  • Monitor the progress of the month-closing flow and communicate the schedule to the rest of the team
  • Coordinate the management financials review process, gathering feedback from the accounting and controlling teams
  • Prepare the reporting package review summary for the management
  • Investigate the review findings, identifying and fixing errors and process flaws
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the internal controls in finance
  • Assist and build accounting decision documents for internal and external auditor review

A bit about you:

We’re looking for someone who's happy and productive when working in a highly flexible, yet demanding startup environment. Do not expect a rigid job description and team structure - we work in an adaptive and flexible way which helps us to react quickly and work at speed.

  • Extensive experience in financial audit or controlling
  • Strong knowledge in financial reporting and internal controls
  • Positive and cooperative attitude combined with a hands-on approach - a ‘doer’
  • Not afraid of making decisions, can work autonomously and take initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to travel (1-2 weeks a quarter)

Bonus points for

  • International experience: working experience abroad or in an international company, demonstrating ability to work across cultures and a good handling of cultural differences
  • Master’s degree in accounting/finance, professional qualification (ACCA or similar)
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS
