Senior Java Developer - Help Experience Team – Budapest

Senior Java Developer

We’re looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our growing team in Budapest. In this role,  you’ll have the opportunity to build products for customers that are in need of assistance.

Even though you’ll be working in the Help experience team, you’ll be a part of the larger engineering team, too. This means you’ll get tons of support from our other engineers across the company. And you’ll collaborate with product managers, analysts, and customer service agents as a way to understand our customer’s needs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Improving our user-focused self-help tools
  • Developing the services that power our Help Center
  • Charting our path towards distributed domain-specific microservices

That means you’ll:

  • Help the team succeed - you’ll have the freedom to inspire your team’s vision.
  • Have complete ownership over everything you build.
  • Be flexible in how and where you work. We understand everyone needs something different, so we’ll do our best to make it happen.
  • Travel to work with our teams in Tallinn and London, as well as visit various partners and organisations when needed.

A bit about you:

  • You’ve worked with backend systems, preferably using Java 8
  • You understand at least one backend MVC framework - Spring Boot is strongly preferred
  • You have worked with SQL databases, writing custom queries and designing schemas
  • You know the importance of writing tests and you QA code before releasing
  • You’ve worked with different test layers like unit, integration, contract tests
  • You’re a great communicator - you give and receive feedback constructively, and you can say no confidently
  • You’re interested in product and user experience
  • Customers are at the heart of what you do and that empathy inspires your decisions
  • You’re ready to travel, to work and learn with developers in Tallinn, London, US, etc.

Some extra skills that would be awesome:

  • You’ve worked with a modern front-end framework, preferable Angular.Js 1.x and React
  • You’ve experimented with Machine Learning before
  • You’ve worked with a CMS before
  • You’ve worked with distributed systems
  • You’ve worked with messaging services (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS etc)
  • You have experience with Domain Driven Design architectures
