Senior Finance Data Steward – London

We’re looking for a Senior Finance Data Steward to join our growing Finance team in London. Quality Assurance of Finance data is fundamental to TransferWise’s mission, not only will this role ensure our data for internal and external financial and regulatory reporting will be accurate, it will also ensure data used for internal decision making is exact.

You will be responsible for driving data quality in our automated finance systems, both from a focusing on the technical (e.g. advanced data driven controls, real time quality data collection and distribution, etc.) and a process perspective.

Your mission:

  • Set the technical and process Data Quality Assurance vision, help identifying the requirements
  • Design, build and implement IT tools to run controls and Data QA processes
  • Work with Finance Controllers, Customer Product teams, Finance Product team to capitalize on learning, carry out Data Quality and processes reviews to support real time accurate financials;
  • Over time, build up a team and capability to execute Finance Data Quality Assurance at scale

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Help us build, at pace, large scale, complex finance systems to support a fast growing, global financial services business
  • Be flexible in how and where you work, we understand everyone needs a little something different so we’ll do our best to make it happen.
  • Travel - you have flexibility to spend 3-4 weeks per quarter to work with the Finance Product team in Estonia

A bit about you:

  • self-sufficient with data analytics - you are good with financial data, SQL and databases. You are very good at solving any analytical and quantitative problem
  • have hands-on experience in building of distributed transaction processing systems (finance or other similar areas). Agile IT environment experience in a global fast growth environment is a strong plus.
  • experience with designing and implementing financial controls, data assurance tools and processes, as well as working with auditors or regulators
  • you have flexibility to spend 3-4 weeks a quarter with the part of the Finance Product team in Tallinn, Estonia.
  • be able to lead a team, part of it remotely, ensuring the team are engaged, achieving their personal development goals and hitting the required timelines


  • be a team player, always working closely with your team, ensuring the highest quality of the results the team deliver
  • passionate about technology and its relationship with business, about user experience
  • ability to own a subdomain, work independently and plan your own solutions to the problems
  • open, communicative, and fun to work with

Bonus Points

  • Experience in finance or accounting -  you know basic accounting and financial terminology
  • Having knowledge or experience with COSO, SOX, CIA, ITIL
  • MBA, Masters in Finance and Economics
