A bit about the job

TransferWise’s fast-growing and international AML transaction monitoring team is looking for a skillful and passionate AML Analyst / Investigator to join the team based in Tampa. We are looking for someone independent who is able to work under limited supervision without comprehensive manual to guide you through your investigations. You should be precise and have eye for detail. You should have solid experience in submitting SARs to FinCEN.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Investigating potentially suspicious activity that may arise from internal escalations or transaction monitoring system alerts;
  • Conducting appropriate due diligence related to the potential suspicious activity;
  • Independently conducting searches, gathering data and recording evidence from internal systems, the internet, commercial databases and enquiry with customers;
  • Making SAR decision and preparing suspicious activity reports (SARs) as required;
  • Reporting SARs to FinCEN;
  • Identifying and escalating any detected control deficiencies;
  • Independently research and resolve issues while working across teams to acquire information;
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships at all levels of the organization. 

A bit about you:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in AML field, preferably in investigating suspicious activity;
  • Experience with investigative techniques and report writing;
  • Experience in submitting SARs to FinCEN;
  • Ability to make decisions and independent judgement calls autonomously;
  • Flexibility in working hours;
  • Ability to multi-task and take responsibility in challenging situations;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
