USD Refunds

If you cancel your transfer after you have paid in your money to TransferWise, but before it has been paid out to your recipient, we can simply refund the full amount we received back to you. See what we need to complete the refund for your payment method below.

ACH Bank Debit

ACH Bank Debit refunds are automatic, so we don't need an additional details from you. Simply cancel the 
payment through your TransferWise profile. 

Your money must reach TransferWise's bank account before we can refund it. This can take 1-4 working days. As soon as it reaches us, we will simply send the full amount back to the originating account via ACH transfer. 

Once the money is sent back to you, it will arrive in your account within two working days maximum.


Domestic Wire Transfer

If you need a refund for your domestic wire, you can simply cancel your payment through your TransferWise profile and enter the following details of the bank account where the money came from. 

- Account holder name
- ACH Routing Number
- Account Number

Our first action after you cancel will be to attempt to reject the transfer from your bank. The money will then simply bounce back to you.

If this is unsuccessful, we'll refund to the details you provided by ACH electronic payment. Once the money is sent back to you, it will arrive in your account within two working days maximum.

SWIFT International Transfer

If you paid using SWIFT bank transfer, we need the following details of the account from which the money was sent to return your money. Please cancel your transfer and contact our support team. 

- Account holder name
- IBAN
- Bank code (BIC/SWIFT)

Once sent out, the refund will take five working days maximum to arrive back in the originating account.


ACH Electronic Payment

If you have sent your money to us via ACH electronic payment, simply cancel your transfer and enter the following details of the account from which the money was sent. 

- Account holder name
- ACH Routing Number
- Account Number

Once the money is sent back to you, it will arrive in your account within two working days maximum


Check

If your money has been sent to us via check, then your funds will be refunded to you by our bank in the U.S. We will not require any additional details from you.

 

What's the "Electronic / check routing number (ACH)"?

The "Electronic/checking routing number (ACH)" is the routing number used for local, ACH electronic transfers between banks in the US. It can be usually found on the bottom left of the bank account’s check book, but this is not always the correct ACH routing number. Please check with your bank to be sure. 
 

Many of the larger banks in America list this routing number on their support pages. You can navigate to these pages by clicking next to your bank below. 
 


If your bank isn't listed here, please ask them for the routing number needed to receive an ACH transfer from another US bank.
