Transfers to and from British Pounds

TransferWise can send British Pounds (GBP) to bank accounts located within the United Kingdom. We can also receive GBP transfers from the UK. Feel free to read more below!

A couple of things to keep in mind:

- We can only send GBP to the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and Gibraltar (provided your recipient's IBAN begins with "GB"). If it begins with "GI", please use sort code and account number instead of IBAN.

For example, in the IBAN GI33XXX01234567888889, please use the account number "78888889" and the sort code "123456"

- We can send and receive Euros, to and from the United Kingdom. This does not include the Isle of Man, Jersey and the Channel Islands.

GBP Refunds

Bank Transfer

In most cases, GBP bank transfer payments can be automatically refunded upon your request as long as we have your money and your transfer has not yet been completed.

The refund must be sent back to the account it came from.
In case we do require your details we will get in touch to ask for the following:

- Account name
- Account number
- UK sort code

Once we receive these details, your money will then be sent back to you. It should then arrive on the same working day.

Debit/Credit Card

Card payment refunds are automatic. Once you cancel a payment, your money will be sent back to the card you paid from. You can read about how long these take here.
