How to enable cookies

This article will cover how to enable cookies on the four main browsers - Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. Links to instructions for each different browser are below.

How to enable cookies on Google Chrome



Step 1 - From the button in the top right hand corner of your browser (3 horizontal lines), select 'Settings'

Step 2 - Scroll to the bottom of the page and select 'Show advanced settings...'

Step 3 - Under the heading 'Privacy', select 'Content Settings'

Step 4 - Under the heading 'Cookies', select 'Allow local data to be set' and make sure 'Block third-party cookies and site data' is unticked
 
Step 5 - Hit 'Done' in the bottom right hand corner of the pop-up window
 

How to enable cookies on Internet Explorer




Step 1 - From the button in the top right hand corner of your browser ('Tools', the 8 pronged cog symbol), select 'Internet Options'

Step 2 - In the pop-up window, select the third tab 'Privacy'
   
Step 3 - Under the heading 'Settings', select 'Advanced'

Step 4 - In the new pop-up, make sure First-party and Third-party Cookies are both set to 'Accept'

Step 5 - Hit 'OK' in the bottom right hand corner of the pop-up window, and then 'OK' again to close the main pop-up

 

How to enable cookies on Mozilla Firefox



Step 1 - From the button in the top right hand corner of your browser (3 horizontal lines), select 'Options' (8 pronged cog symbol)

Step 2 - In the new tab, from the left-hand menu, select the fifth option 'Privacy'

Step 3 - Under the heading 'History', next to 'Firefox will:', select 'Remember history'

Step 4 - Close the 'Options' tab.

There is an alternative method, steps 1 and 2 remain the same:



Step 3 - Under the heading 'History', next to 'Firefox will:', select 'Use custom settings for history'

Step 4 - Below this, make sure 'Accept cookies from sites' is ticked, 'Accept third-party cookies:' is set to 'Always' and 'Keep until:' is set to 'they expire'. You can untick or leave ticked any other boxes as you wish

Step 5 - Close the 'Options' tab.

 

How to enable cookies on Safari

Step 1 - From the top left hand corner of your screen, select 'Safari' (next to the Apple logo)

Step 2 - In the drop down menu, select 'Preferences...'

Step 3 - In the pop-up window, select 'Privacy'

Step 4 - In the category 'Cookies and website data', select 'Allow from websites I visit' and then close the pop-up
