What is SEPA?
SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area, and is an agreement between countries within Europe setting standards for EUR-EUR transfers within this zone. It aims to make transfers between European banks the same as domestic transfers, carrying no additional charges.

TransferWise has three Euro bank accounts which we use to send and receive Euro deposits - one in Estonia and a two others in Germany and France.

Sending from EUR

|For Debit/Credit cards there is a limit of 2500 EUR per transfer. Paying by credit card carries an additional 0.4% fee.
We have three bank accounts to receive Euro deposits - one in Estonia and a further two in Germany and France.

|Guaranteed exchange rate||To some currencies||For transfers to AUD, CHF, GBP, and USD from EUR, the rate is guaranteed (locked) at the mid-market rate for 2 working days (48 hours) from the time you finish creating the order. For transfers to all other currencies, the rate is determined at the time of conversion.|

If you cancel your transfer from EUR after you have sent your money to us (using one of the payment methods listed), and before your transfer has been completed, then we can simply refund your money back to you. See what is required to complete the refund for your payment method below.
When refunding a bank transfer, the money must be sent back to the account it came from. We will ask for the following details:
- Account holder name
- Bank code (BIC/SWIFT)
Your money will then be sent back to you. It should arrive within 2 working days maximum.
Card payment refunds are an automatic process (but not instant). Once you cancel a payment, your money will be sent back to the card you paid from. It can take up to 10 working days for the money to reflect back on your card.
When cancelling a transfer that you've paid for using SOFORT, your money must arrive to us before we can refund it. This typically takes 1-2 working days. Once it reaches our account, we can refund it directly back to the sending account.
The refund will take 1-2 working days to arrive back into your account.
If you cancel a EUR transfer that you've paid for using iDeal, your money will be sent back to the account you paid from. It will arrive back within 1-2 working days.
Trustly Instant Bank Transfer
If you cancel a EUR transfer that you've paid for using Trustly instant bank payment, your money will be sent back to the account you paid from. It will arrive back within 1-2 working days and you will see Trustly as the sender on your account statement.
SEPA Direct Debit
If you cancel a transfer with an active SDD payment before any money has been withdrawn from your account, then this will not be taken and nothing will happen. If you cancel after the money has been withdrawn, we'll need to wait for this to clear with us (up to 4 working days), and then refund it back to you which can take 1-3 working days.
