Champagne or English sparkling wine? You'll be amazed at who can't tell the difference...

Our friends at Eurostar invited us down to their departure lounge to spread Christmas cheer and help their customers beat bank fees this Christmas. So we strapped on our Santa hats and did it in style. The plan? To give out free champagne and free money all day long to the festive travellers. For some reason they absolutely loved us. Must have been the hats. We had TransferWise Christmas cards galore, spreading the good word with free transfers and some chocolate money thrown in for good measure. Our magician friend wowed the crowds with money magic, taking their spare coins and turning them into €5 and €10 notes which they got to keep. Now that’s a good exchange rate. The Champagne Game What we really wanted to know is if the Eurostar travellers could tell the difference between Champagne and English sparkling wine. Especially the French. We had a few cases of Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial, a few cases of Nyetimber Classic Cuvée and a lot of glasses. Our discerning tasters were asked to spot the Champagne. Results? Interesting, funny, potentially embarrassing, but all in the name of Christmas cheer.

And the results are in...

The Belgians had the best palate by far, the British were meh, and the French, well you decide… The Belgians: 24 correct / 5 wrong The British: 56 correct / 59 wrong The French: 62 correct / 92 wrong ![](/../uploads/Image/The Champagne Game(1).jpg)![](/../uploads/Image/The Champagne Game.jpg)

Thanks to Eurostar and everyone who took part, and a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our revolutionaries.
