So, we've pulled together some of the best apps for navigating your first few months here (but not the taps, you'll just have to get used to that). From booking trains to finding great pubs - if you've got a smartphone, we've got you covered:

Trainline

The UK has some incredible places to visit - and the trains are a great way to get around (and see the countryside on your way!). Trains can be expensive - but if you book in advance with the Trainline you can get some great deals.

Good Beer Guide

Britain is famed for its great pubs - and beer! (Although if you're American, you may take some time getting used to the temperature real ale is served at - good luck!) CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) have produced an app that lets you track down the best place for a pint nearby.

If you're visiting some of the UK's big cities, CityMapper is a great way to navigate. Simply put in your location, destinations and choose how you want to get there. The app does the rest. It currently works in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
