What is a TUI Holiday

TUI¹ has been operating for more than half a century now and is currently the UK’s leading travel brand, with more than 6 million holidaymakers. Offering 85+ destinations in 38 countries over the globe, with 4000+ properties from luxury hotels to private villas, and much more. From beach bumming in the Mediterranean to exploring exotic far-off lands, or city breaks through to lake and mountain getaways, TUI's got you covered. They do it all, from flights to hotels and everything in between, so you can kick back, relax, and let TUI take care of the nitty-gritty.

How to cancel TUI Holiday²

TUI offers flexibility for both cancellations and modifications to your holiday plans. If your booking was made directly on TUI's website, you have the option to access the "Manage My Booking" section within your TUI account. There, you can make various adjustments, such as cancelling your holiday, altering the details of your vacation, updating passenger names, amending contact information, and more.

If your TUI holiday reservation was made via a different travel agency, you will need to get in touch with that specific agency in order to request changes or cancellations to your booking.

Cancellations and changes - Fees

Please note that if you decide to cancel your TUI holiday, a termination fee applies. The specific termination fee is determined by the number of days in advance that you notify TUI about your cancellation. It varies from only the deposit, if you cancel within 70 days or more in advance, till 100% if you cancel up to two weeks before your holiday.

Most of the changes - except upgrades such as adding on an extra flight, upgrading a room type or board basis - also have a fee that varies and can be even treated as a cancellation.

Cancelling due to medical reasons

If you've secured your travel insurance through TUI Insurance, it could provide coverage if you were unaware of your condition when you initially booked your holiday. In simpler terms, if you got sick or with a medical condition that you didn’t know or developed after your booking, you might get a refund.

However, if you confirm your holiday knowing that you might need to cancel due to medical reasons, the insurance won't extend coverage in case of a claim. Cancellation fees, following the holiday's Terms and Conditions, will still apply. If you haven't obtained travel insurance through TUI, you would need to get in touch with your own insurance provider for further assistance.

Tips when booking holidays with TUI

When booking holidays with TUI, here are some handy tips to ensure a smooth and worry-free experience:

  1. Consider using a Credit Card with Travel Insurance: If you have a credit card that offers travel insurance as a perk, it's a smart choice to use it for booking your TUI holiday. This extra layer of protection can come in handy in case of unforeseen events or trip cancellations.

  2. Add Travel Insurance and Flight Cancellations: TUI typically offers travel insurance options during the booking process. It's a wise move to add this insurance, as it can cover you for various situations, including medical emergencies, trip interruptions, and cancellations. Additionally, consider adding flight cancellation protection to your booking. This can be a lifesaver if your plans change unexpectedly.

  3. Read Terms and Conditions Thoroughly: It might not be the most exciting part of booking a holiday, but reading the terms and conditions is crucial. Pay close attention to the sections related to cancellations and refunds. Knowing the rules and policies upfront can save you from surprises later on.

  4. Explore TUI Flex³: TUI often offers a feature called "TUI Flex," which provides added booking flexibility. With TUI Flex, you can make certain changes to your booking without incurring hefty fees. Be sure to check if this option is available for your chosen holiday package and consider whether it's worth adding for peace of mind.

So, after this guide, you’ll know how to cancel your TUI holiday and what fees does it include. You also received some tips to have an even better experience with them next time, and now, there’s one more tip for you.
